These are a Rare Antique Civil War Era Bifocal Eyeglasses w/ a Wooden
Opticians Case. The glasses measure 4 5/8” across the front of the lenses, and
each wire earpiece measures about 5” long. There is a loop at the end of each
earpiece with thin cord wrapped around the loop, so it would not irritate their
ears. Each oval lens hole measures about 1” x 1 ¼”, and the lens have joined
upper & lower bifocal parts. The glasses are unmarked, and seem to be made of a
silver colored / possibly plated metal. The glasses appear to be in Great
condition, with only some light age wear, and they need to be polished up. The
2 ¼” x 5 ¼” x 1 3/8” wooden box, has dovetailed edges, and a sliding door on
the top. The door has the embossed words on the top “Arthur Frank & Co. Inc. /
Wholesale Opticians / 71-73 Nassau Street / New York NY”. The box is in very
good condition, with some light age darkening to the top of the lid, and a
small piece off each side of the grove for the top lid. The lid still slides,
and stays on tightly with the majority of the side grooves still intact. The
inside of the lid has a US stamp from when the box was originally shipped to a
customer. The box may be newer than the glasses! Lucky Buyer pays successful
amount, plus $5.00 shipping in the USA. Thank You for Considering My Item!!
